Researching and sharing info about the country music scene in the East Bay, from the 30's to the 60's. Discovering the artists that brought the night scene alive. Exploring the dj's and radio shows, the tv shows, clubs and halls.
"Cowboy Bob" was another persona used by "Foreman Bill" Mackintosh. He was one of several Western/Hillbilly personalities on Bay Area stations back in the 1940s, right after the war, when so many migrants from Texas and Oklahoma came to California, including my dad's family.
Dude Martin worked at 1260 KYA (doing evenings, with "Foreman Bill" doing early mornings) and KGO, while Western Farm Home (KROW 960) and Sagebrush Serenade (KPO 680) were other Bay Area favorites in the post-war days.
